Simple and Beautiful; The Sheldon Calvery Camp Chapel

Driving along the Lake Erie coastline, I stumbled upon this gorgeous little chapel building overlooking the Lake. A simple, colorful cross shines brightly and can been seen through the church building from the road at a distance to the Lake beyond. The chapel has a transparency that makes this building both complex and stunningly simple at the same time. Views through the building catch your eye as you walk from the entry door to the alter.

Buildings like this embody design at its best. This is not at all an expensive building, but the space inside frees the soul. As one looks around, you are surrounded by nature organized through simple geometries from inside the building. If it is hard to photograph this building, then you know it was done well and with the kind of thinking that we should all strive to attain.
